Mariposas del Sol - Ocean View Luxury Rentals
Mariposas del Sol, Montezuma's favorite vacation rental villa, has now become part of a luxury boutique hotel, called "Anamaya." The owners (Geoff and Karen McCabe) have decided to rent out the main house as well, and built new bungalows, each beautiful and unique. From our location, Malpais, Santa Teresa, Cabuya, and Tambor are also within a short drive. Famous malpais surfing is just a short drive away.
Most of the units have jaw-dropping ocean views, and the property is surrounded by jungle canopy, teeming with animal and bird life. We are the only hotel or rental that has a private path straight to Montezuma Falls, which is the best waterfall in the Nicoya Peninsula. Here, you can swim, dive from the rocks into the deep pool, or jump off the ropeswing. Although you probably won't use them the units have Air Conditioning, and are just a two minute drive to Montezuma and various beaches. The famous Los Cedros surf break is six or seven minutes away, down the coast towards Cabuya, and the best restaurant in Costa Rica, "Playa de los Artistas" restaurant is at the bottom of the hill. Our own family-style gourmet healthy restaurant, serving organic food, has a different menu every day, and every dinner is prepared by our master chef who will teach you his culinary secrets, and discuss the health benefits of each meal. 
SALT WATER INFINITY POOL! We have the most spectacular pool in the Montezuma/Malpais area, located on the highest point, with amazing ocean views. A swim in our pool will definitely be one of the highlights of your trip to Costa Rica!
Once a week (Friday night) we'll have a mini circus show, before or after dinner, with silk trapeze in the living room and fire dancing outside. The silk trapeze is available for you to play on, and the owners/managers will be happy to show you a few fun tricks to play with. You can also play with our many other toys such as our colorful hula hoops. We're all about fun here! Since the early 1970's, travellers from around the world have visited this area to discover the beauty of Costa Rica, and many have ended up discovering themselves. Many have stayed permanently, creating this thriving community of artists, musicians, surfers, and hedonists, all enjoying "the good life." While there are many types of people of all ages and backgrounds, they share the desire to live near a beautiful jungle beach with purpose and style. From the moment of your arrival in Montezuma, you'll know you've discovered a very magical place, quite different from other Costa Rican towns. This area has been compared with the Maui of 50 years ago, or Santa Cruz, California, but with monkeys, parrots and year-round warm water. Despite its increasing popularity, the Montezuma area still has beautiful beaches that you will find nearly deserted, many waterfalls hikes, and secret surf spots where you can have a great wave to yourself. Most people who stay at our place rent a car... probably 65-75% of them. Of those who don't, around 1/3 of them end up renting one anyway, or a quad, because they don't like the hike back up the hill from town. It's about 15-20 minutes but a 400-ft elevation gain.
